Family 4th Activity

After the parade, our family always does some large activity, usually something to do with the water because of the heat. This year, instead of going to the splash park or to Rigby Lake, I wanted to to take the family on a real adventure. So I rented 6 canoes from my friends dad at RentCanoes.com and took them on a trip they usually wouldn't do. My mom took care of the two new born's and everyone else went canoeing. We went from the Plano bridge to Fisherman's Pasture. The trip is only a mile or two birds eye view. But because it is so slow, and they call it "The Snake River" for a reason, the trip takes a couple of hours. To give you an idea, I rode from the take out back to my car on a little pit bike (a small dirt bike) in less than 5 minutes. But on the river, it really does take a couple of hours. It was fun to see all the little kids scream and shout at the beginning of the trip, but after they got going, they settled down and had some fun. Ellen had the hardest time as it was her and her son Cooper in the canoe. She couldn't figure out how to steer, and it was fun to watch her go back and forth on the river and then get flipped around by the current. As I traveled down the river with my dad in my canoe, I could tell he really enjoyed the trip, just being on the river, something he used to be able to do whenever he wanted. We all had a good trip and all the kids had a really fun time.
