The Day Off

A few days ago I decided to take yesterday (Tuesday) off. I knew my boss was going to be gone the rest of the week, which would make me busier than normal. I wanted to get some things done, so I decided to take Tuesday off. Monday night I convinced Kalee to take the day off as well. It was nice.
We slept in, but being a weekday, I couldn't sleep past 7:30. I went into work for a few minutes to get some things done that had to be done that day. Then the fun happened.
We started the day by traveling to Rigby, ID and having breakfast at Me N' Stans. They have an excellent breakfast. I got a big meal. Chicken fried steak, hash browns, eggs, and a very large pancake. It was delicious. Kalee got a cinnamon roll that was the size of her head, and some hash browns.



Then we went back to Rexburg, headed over to my parents place, and installed a hitch on our Terrain that I have been wanting since we bought the car. I had it quoted around town for parts and installation at about $300. The parts alone, if were to have bought them from a parts store here in town for a Curt hitch, would have been around $250+. But, I worked E-bay, and got the parts that I wanted, with shipping for $124. Then Kalee and I did the installation. The instructions said it would take a professional about 30-minutes, a novice about 1-hour. It took Kalee and I about 4 hours to install the hitch. Ha ha. We learned the right technique and which bolts to put in and in what order. But we got it on, and we had a good time doing it. I couldn't had done it without Kalee, she was a big help! I also was able to get the wiring done at the same time, which was extremely easy compared to the hitch.



I have been organizing my flies for fishing and putting them into new fly boxes that I have bought. Our kitchen table table has looked like this for the last couple of days. I know that Kalee is cringing about it, but she hasn't said anything. She is awesome. I will be nice when I get done with this project.
 

At about 7:30, we left to go fishing. I got on the water just as the wind was dying down (it was really windy that day), and just as the fish were starting to really hit. It was a good night. I stayed on the water until about 9:45, until I couldn't see much.



It was a fun day off. I got to do a lot of stuff that I have been wanting to accomplish. Kalee, even though it wasn't her dream day off, she was a good sport and I enjoyed having her with me. We both enjoyed taking a day away from our busy work days and spend the day together accomplishing things.
