Thanksgiving in Nebraska

Thanksgiving this year was spent with the Dalton family. Last year they all traveled out to Daniel and Jesse Mae's home in Nebraska. Despite the -20 degree weather that they had there last year while rounding up cows, they all wanted to go back and do it again. So we did. We took two cars, Kalee's sister Melissa and her family in one car, then Kalee and I, her dad Matt, and brother Kyle and his wife Brittany in Matt's truck. We had to take a couple of saddles, potatoes, and all of Kalee's luggage, so it would only work if we took a truck. We left Twin Falls at 7 am Monday night, and got to our destination around 9:30 pm. It was a long drive, but it wasn't all that bad. We were there through Saturday morning. It was a lot of fun and we got to spend a lot of quality time as a family. Since Dan and Jesse Mae live literally in the middle of nowhere (they travel over an hour to go shopping), we had got to spend a lot of time together. But don't worry, we were able to watch Cars 2 a couple of times, as well as Gnome and Juliet multiple times... in a row. Yes, Cinch, Dan's oldest son, likes to watch movies over and over, one time after another. Jesse Mae just had a new baby, who they named Chancey, which was also fun to see. We were also able to see my brother Matt and his family a couple of times. They live an hour and half away from Dan, but they were visiting friends on the same ranch as Dan live. So they were only 10 minutes away, which enabled us to see them a lot.
Here are some pictures that will help you see our trip:
This is a picture of Matt riding around one of the watering holes. This water is pumped by the solar panels on that are on a trailer that Dan could tow from hole to hole.
Kyle and Brittany racing around a fence to go get some cows.
The two love birds, Kyle and Brittany holding hands while going to get some cows. They both love the cowboyin life.
 Dan, Kyle, Brit, Dog
Dan, Kyle, Brit, Dog, Matt, Dog
Them are what we going to get

We done gone get dem dere cows and putt dem in dere corner. We waited der for Dan and Matt to bring dem udder cows to join us.
This is Nick. He is Cinch's horse, as he is an easy going guy.
 Dem dere luv birds again.
Yes. I am a real cowboy, chaps and all. I love cowboyin.
After we got all the cows together, these are all bulls, we brought them across the street and started separating them.

We then separated the 1 and 2 year old bulls into different pastures, counted them and Dan sprayed them with an insect repellent.

Brittany, Kyle, and Matt waiting for Dan to get back from closing a fence.
This is Christian, he is a pretty cute little guy. He is Melissa's youngest.

The next day, we were at it again.

We were taking all these cows into a field a few miles away. Because it was so warm that day, all the cows were around the watering hole. So Dan just got in front of them, turned on the siren that makes them think that they are gong to be fed from the truck, and they all started following him in the truck. It certainly made our life a lot easier. This is 800+ cows following the truck because of a sound coming from it.
These are Dan's dogs. I knew that dogs were important to a rancher, but wow. Dan can do a lot with these dogs. They are like an extra guy per each dog. Dan can tell them a direction to herd the cows and they do it.

This is Wednesday night at the home that Matt and Ali were staying at. Braden here.
Braden cuddling with his favorite cuddle buddy... MY WIFE! He ALWAYS likes to cuddle with her. I have to fight to cuddle with her when Braden is around.
Kalee loves getting her picture taken.
Dan had to do a some chores at another ranchers place while they were gone for the holiday. This is the kids getting the chicken eggs.
Christian having fun on his momma's shoulders.

This is Dalton, Kalee's sisters son, and Braden, my brothers son. I think they look a lot a like. Both have the same color hair, and freckles in the same place.
 Kalee and Ella.
This is Liva, Kalee and I's good friends daughter. She does a cheesy fake smile, and when I tried to take a picture of her, she would close her eyes from the flash.
This is my sister Sarah at her office. She helps with the finances at the Utah Republican Party in downtown Salt Lake.
This is the magical machine that makes ginger break cookies at Deseret Book in downtown Salt Lake. It is a pretty cool looking machine. It makes the cookies and sends them up and over in the aluminum tube seen in the picture. It is a lot of fun to watch. (It doesn't really make cookies)
